SWARNA BALA KRISHNAMURTI
-SAVANNAH- Swarna Krishnamurti, 59, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 in Savannah, GA.
Swarna was born in India on July 10, 1953, to parents Dr. Pullabhotla and Jyoti Krishnamurti, both now deceased. She came to America at the age of 8, not knowing any English and graduated at the top of her class from Jenkins High School in Savannah in 1972. Swarna went on to receive a Bachelor's degree from Armstrong State College and taught high school after graduation. She then attended the University of Georgia in Athens where she received a Master's Degree. She subsequently moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she began a career as a computer programmer. Swarna resided in Atlanta for almost 30 years. In addition to a brilliant analytical mind, Swarna also possessed many artistic talents. Swarna took some Film Writing and Directing classes at Georgia State University, where she wrote and produced a short film. In the years preceding Swarna's move to Savannah, she established and operated a professional Math Tutoring business out of a beautiful office in Chamblee, GA. Swarna moved back to Savannah in 2004.
Swarna proceeded through life with perseverance and remarkable dignity. She survived a serious accident in 2004, after which she continually strove to rebuild physical strength and motility. With tremendously hard work, she became what doctor's referred to as a "walking miracle". Swarna was made of very strong moral fiber and had a passion for justice. She loved animals and was a committed advocate for animal rights.
Swarna Krishnamurti was preceded in death by her parents. Swarna is survived by her siblings, Madhu Krishnamurti, Butch Krishnamurti, Kiran Krishnamurti and Sridhar Krishnamurti, as well as one niece and one nephew.
In honor of Swarna's request there will be no memorial service.
Remembrances may be made to an Animal Rights Organization such as PETA: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, 501 Front Street, Norfolk, VA 23510.

Swarna and I played trumpet in the band together at Jenkins. I was always inspired by her quiet, yet strong will and perseverance. My sincere condolences to her siblings. The world just became a little bit smaller with her leaving.
- Michael D. Denmark, Tybee Island, GA
I always wondered what had happened to Swarna. Swarna volunteered with my campaign for Mayor. What a blessing she was to me. Smart, intelligent, honest and caring. Many times the office would have been closed if not for Swarna. I called her when her father passed - spoke with her and relayed my deepest sympathy. I called Swarna about 2 months ago - I did not get an answer. My most deepest sympathy to her family. I met one of the brothers who Swarna asked to help out on election night. Thank you again. Rest in peace dear Swarna.
- Regina Thomas, Savannah, GA
